With a rack of support from heavyweights such as Skream, Toddla T, Diplo, Dave Nada, Dillon Francis and DJ Craze, Jay Fay presents a brand new EP out now on T&A Records. $$ OOPS $$ sees the St. Louis, Ohio native continuing to build on the distinctively aggresive sound debuted on the Bonkers EP, and rapidly proving himself as a producer to watch in indie dance.

The title track, produced with Ra Cailum, embodies everything that has moombahton fans tripping over themselves to fete him; jammed to the gills with magnetic dancefloor energy, $$ OOPS $$ boasts calypso vibes wrassling with tough bassline electro to create a peak-hour, body-twerking groove. Starlife sees G-Eazy rapping on another huge moombahton track, while Bamboula, whether in its original interpretation or as remixed by rising bassbin rattlers J-Trick and Zombies For Money, is a wild uptempo banger.

In case you where like me and couldn’t make it out to SXSW and WMC this year (I know, I suck right), here is a quick recap of what went down with Tittsworth.
Legend has it many years ago in the Chin State of Myanmar (Burma) the women began to get tattooed with intricate designs covering their entire faces.

Legend has it many years ago in the Chin State of Myanmar (Burma) the women began to get tattooed with intricate designs covering their entire faces. The story goes that the Rakhaing Princes would come to the villages in search of beautiful women as brides and take them back to their kingdom. The tattoos became their only defense in an attempt to “Uglify” their appearance. But overtime the villagers saw it as a rite of passage into womanhood and no longer about the princes; some girls could not even get married until the tattoos were done. Once the girls reached puberty they were sent to a Shaman. They didn’t fight it; most of the time they couldn’t wait to get the tattoos of the elder women in their tribe. The ink had come from a special plant and was mixed with buffalo kidney. This process was extremely painful as the Shaman hammered the ink into their skin. In the 1960s in attempt for the socialist government to stop this practice they started putting huge taxes on the Shaman. (Eventually the facial tattoos were banned all together). After the first woman was married without the tattoos the practice began to disappear completely. Once a rite of passage; now a distant memory as all that is left of these women are the “Grandmothers”, in attempt to connect to the outside world and raise money for schools; the grandmothers have welcomed tourist to their secluded world. They only receive a couple hundred visitors a year but as Myanmar (Burma) opens up I’m sure these numbers will grow as the people want to catch a glimpse into their world.

The Chin State is closed off to tourist; you can try to get permits which can take up to several weeks and even then… So I did the second best thing. I flew from Yangon to Sittwe in the Rakhaing State, went on a 7 hour ferry ride to Mrauk U and then lastly a small boat to the Chin Villages just along the mysterious state.

The grandmothers of the Chin tribe took my hand as I arrived on their shores; there were five elderly women waiting our arrival. We were guided up the steep hills to their village. Small walkways separated the houses made of bamboo and wood that sat high above the ground. Out of respect we were taken to the oldest woman’s house first. The dark lines of tattoos blended with the wrinkles on her face; she was in her 90’s. All of her grandchildren and great grandchildren joined us as we sipped on tea and chatted back in fourth with the help of a translator. After awhile we parted ways to meet with the rest of the village. Now we met one of the youngest women. She was 60 and the ink on her face was the most pronounced out of the whole village. She told us that when she was 5 she would beg her parents regularly “when was it her time to get tattos on her face”; at the age of 15 she was sent to the Shaman. I asked her if someday these traditions would begin again and she told me; “it was a different time and that she did not want her granddaughters to go through it and wanted them to blend in with the rest of the world”. They are truly the last of their kind. As the day grew and it got hotter and hotter we took refuge on a shaded porch for tea. The Chin women shared with us some of her favorite treasures that they had acquired over their lives. One of the women shared this thought with me; “Sometimes I feel like my parents’ spirits are coming back to me through the visitors”. I felt very humbled from her words. The sky was changing from blue to orange and it was time for us to say goodbye. Once we were back on our boat; the women splashed water on us for good luck and waved to us as we traveled back down the river.

The new Bro Safari EP “Bros Gone Wild” drops on Beatport and Amazon today and this one that you need to get! Bro Safari is no stranger to making heavy tunes coming from the Drum & Bass bangers crew Evol Intent, but this new EP is taking Moombahton to another level. There is even a 128 bpm tune “Cold Turkey” that shows how wide the Bro Safari range can go with a four to the floor rave anthem vibe. What really sets Bro Safari apart from most other Moombahton producers out there is the power of his drops! Just listen to “Avalon” with LeDoom or “Quieres Sexo” with Sazon Booya and you can feel how heavy it is even on your laptop speakers.

I can’t wait to hear tracks like “The Clap” with ETC!ETC! played at the next Moombahton Massive. This is one of those tunes that you need to snatch a girl to dance with the second you recognize the song, because once it drops she’s about to get freaky! I’m also happy to see Codes on the “5150” Remix. Codes is definitely one of my favorites and is always able to inject a funky vibe into any track he touches. This six track EP is full of bangers, but my personal favorite has to be the Jay Fay “Uncrushable” Remix! The drop in that literally goes “damn” with enough power to blow the club away! Download the new “Bros Gone Wild” EP today on Amazon or Beatport and be ready to have your speakers on blast!

I love seeing T&A Records stepping into new grounds, and that’s exactly what is happening with the release of GLC’s new EP “Fellowship and Congregate”. GLC is a Chicago based rapper with a laid back flow that isn’t intended for the dance floor, but instead your home speaker system for your next smoking party. T&A is obviously known for putting out dance and party records, but GLC is a perfect fit to help expand the team.

The first track on the EP is “Fellowship and Congregate” which has heavy dubstep influences and a mean bass line. It’s a hood track about GLC’s main female, and this definitely something to play while you’re making moves on your girl. “Angry Birds” is produced by our fam DJ Ayres, and as you might have guessed it uses samples from the iPhone game. Despite being a chill out track, this song is actually pretty funny for using Angry Birds samples over a song about upset females. I have to give Ayres props for his production game on this one. The sub-bass and snares are hood as hell, which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that knows his Baltimore Club days.

The third track on the EP is “I Can’t Honor That” that’s produced by Nacey, yet another homie that I’m impressed by. The instrumental is very soulful and melodic with a west coast vibe that’s a throw back to the days of Easy-E and Snoop. The final track “Ism Light” is pretty much ghetto feel good music. With the clean drum rack and spacey feel from Lunice, GLC is able to make Chi-Town rappers look real strong. Even though I might not spin this in my next DJ set, you can best believe this EP will be on heavy iPod rotation. Check out the EP on beatport here.
