When DJ’s Attack: Tittsworth Eats Live Octopus Video

So I might have a slightly unhealthy obsession with all things octopi, including a chest & arm tattoo, the banner of this website, and topic of most of my dreams & fantasies. Korea is well known for eating octopus while still moving and as if that wasn’t enough of a reason to be excited for my visit, there’s Old Boy. Needless to say when I was invited to DJ in Seoul (which was amazing by the way), I was NOT leaving without eating my spirit animal in the purest and freshest way I knew how. AC Slater gave our Seoul fam a heads up, who were nice enough to dig up a few octopus spots. Unfortunately all of them refused to serve it whole, even when after ordering it by locals in very specific Korean terms. They would all only serve it diced into small moving pieces. All except one…

Shout out to Samuel for the amazing hospitality! I was so excited for the unforgettable gig and culinary experience that I managed to leave my headphones in another city (The first time in my decade plus of DJing).

And how was the octopus? Well for starters, you have to chew the bits until they stop moving or there is a possibility they might stick to your throat and choke you to death. My guess is that’s why most places refuse to serve it to me whole. It required focus to get through, especially chewing one into bits while the other jumped out of the bowl and made a run for it. Their legs have suction cups which pop and pinch your hands, face, cheek and tongue. It was served with wasabi or a salt-and-pepper sesame oil dipping sauce. It was fresh and delicious, though took a few minutes to settle past chewing angry. As per my older video, the head is very hard to break down and slightly resembles the chewing of a used condom (or so I’m told).

Though this epic trip feels like it was only yesterday, I’m already about to embark on another. During June and July I will not only be heading back to Asia, but I’ll also be hitting up the surf and turf of Australia (teach me how to barbie).
