Video Interview with Josh Sisk -By Denman
It has been many years since I first met Josh Sisk, while he was running small DIY label, McCarthyism Records, and I was booking the bands on his label, at the Warehouse Next Door in DC. In the time since, he folded the label, started taking pictures, got swept up in the Baltimore club movement, and landed on the other side, a professional photographer.
Josh continues to do amazing work for everyone from Tittsworth, to the Washington Post, to places like Spin, and beyond. So, it’s no surprise that several weeks ago he put up a show at the Wind-up Space, in Baltimore, with fellow music photographer, Kyle Gustafson. After a long night of celebrating the opening of, “Full Speed or Nothing,” we took a slightly lazy and fatigued afternoon to sit down and chat a bit about how all of this happened. Sisk was kind enough to lay out a fairly detailed timeline, so, if you’ve ever wondered how someone rises to the position he has in the world of photography, take this mini bio-pic for a spin:
